SuperKomedy at Superkhana with Sonal Aggarwal!

What is a joke? What is it to laugh? Who is allowed to laugh!

In this three hour workshop we will learn the basic principles of stand up comedy and the structure of a joke. We will cultivate our sense of humor into a super power, taking the raw materials of this human experience and giving them expression through laughter and our words.

One's sense of humor is very personal. You can't learn ‘to be funny,' because 'funny' is subjective, like smell, touch, or any of our other senses. You like smells that other people think are gross! It doesn't matter what other people think, and it doesn't matter if other people think you are funny. It matters what YOU think.

This class will help you to focus on your own experience. It will give you a sense of confidence in your voice and teach you new communication skills. And, you will learn how to write a joke!

Sonal Aggarwal is a Chicago based stand up comedian, actor and producer. She produces The Theory of Comedy at Theory in River North and Chai Town Comedy at Chiya Chai in Logan Square. She is a regular host of The Moth and her one woman show The Alchemy of Bliss played for a sold out weekend at The Steppenwolf Theater. She is a semi reitred fire dancer, so she has been causing stress for her parents for a long time. And she has been on many stages many times.
